**CDH must give access before you can login via SFTP.  Please contact your DTA to confirm your access before following these instructions.

1.  We suggest using Filezilla, a free SFTP, SCP, and FTP client for Mac, which could be downloaded here: http://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client and then selecting your platform (Mac) and processor (Intel or PowerPC).

2.  Once installed, open the Filezilla program.  At the top click File --> Site Manager

a. Enter the following under the General tab:

i. Hostname: [name of server/website] (should be given to you along with logon information, ie. sftp.humnet.ucla.edu)

ii. Port number:  Leave Blank

iii. Protocol: SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol

iv. Logon Type: Normal

v. User name:  [your Humnet Username] (typically the username you use to connect to a Humnet computer on campus)

vi. Password:  [your Humnet password]

vii. Click the "Connect" button.

3. Once logged in, you will be able to open directories and files as well as drag and drop files onto the FTP server.

1.  We suggest using WinSCP, a free SFTP, SCP, and FTP client for Windows, which could be downloaded here: http://winscp.net/eng/download.php (click "Installation package").

2.  Once installed, open the WinSCP program.  When first opened, it will prompt for login information.

a. Enter the following under the Session tab:

i. Hostname: [name of server/website] (should be given to you along with logon information, ie. sftp.humnet.ucla.edu)

ii. Port number:  22

iii. User name:  [your Humnet Username] (typically the username you use to connect to a Humnet computer on campus

iv. Password:  [your Humnet password]

v. Click the "Save..." button if you wish to save the settings if not, just click the "Login" button.

3.  Once logged in, you will be able to open directories and files as well as drag and drop files onto the SFTP server.
