UCLA Center for Digital Humanities Support

The Instructional Technology Group is responsible for instructional technology support for Humanities Division instructors.

The Instructional Technology Coordinator is Dr. Robert Cargill, who oversees a team consisting of the Instructional Developer and graduate student developers, the Foreign Language and Instructional Lab Coordinator (LILC) and LuValle Lab Consultants, and graduate student Instructional Technology Consultants (ITCs) charged with supporting the classroom and online instructional technology needs of Humanities instructors.

The Language and Instructional Lab Coordinator is Dr. John Lynch, who oversees the LuValle Instructional Language Labs and a team of seven LuValle Lab Consultants supporting the lab. Dr. Lynch provides direct support to foreign language instructors in the Humanities.

The Instructional Developer is Harsh Desai, who develops code for instructional applications in the Humanities, and who oversees a team of graduate student programmers charged with support application support for instructional technology applications.

The Instructional Technology Consultants (ITCs) are a team of seven Humanities graduate students hired for a tenure of up to two years and based in the ITC Lab (1041 Public Affairs Building). The ITCs assist instructors with the best use of technology in instruction and learning. ITCs are assigned to support specific departments, but work collaboratively to share their various disciplinary, pedagogical, and technical skills. ITCs manage the Humanities Division CCLE course websites and consult on a variety of other technology tools, including presentation software, media processing, blogging and wikis, Wimba, scanning and OCR. The ITC Lab is equipped with high-end digitizing equipment available to instructors to use by appointment or on a drop-in basis.

Each Humanities department has an assigned ITC who can help instructors uses their CCLE/Moodle course websites and other instructional technology. Consult the ITC roster to find your ITC and view your ITC's individual schedule.

Humanities instructors may come to the ITC Lab (PPB 1041) between 9am and 4pm on week days during the academic year. Consult the ITC drop-in schedule for lab availability.
