CDH provides Humnet Email accounts to Humanities faculty, staff, and graduate students. Humnet email accounts typically end with @humnet.ucla.edu or @humanities.ucla.edu. Humnet accounts are handled by CDH. For instructions on how to setup and access Humnet email, please refer to the Enterprise Messaging Client Configuration section. Email accounts that end with @ucla.edu are Bruin OnLine (BOL) accounts and are handled by UCLA Bruin Online. For instructions on how to setup and access BOL email, refer to BOL HOW-TO Guides. Humnet email accounts are both issued and terminated by department request. Account terminations are determined by the current active status of the client. Upon leaving the Humanities department you were a member of, your account will be added to a list for deletion by the department manager. Accounts listed for termination will expire at the end of the academic year.

Humnet email boxes have a storage limit of 500 MB of space. Although we do encourage our clients to delete all unnecessary messages such as spam and large, unneeded file attachments, mailbox size could be increased by request.

To request a mailbox size increase, please contact the CDH Service Desk at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the following:

  • Brief explanation for space increase
  • Amount of space increase needed
  • Attached authorization for space increase by either a department manager or chair.

Increase in mailbox storage space typically takes place 24-48 hours after the request is submitted.

Email forwarding service is available upon request. This service will forward future messages received from your Humnet email address (@humnet.ucla.edu) to any email address of your liking.

To request for email forwarding service please contact the Service Desk at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. using your Humnet email address. Please specify the email address you would like to forward your messages to.

The email forwarding service takes effect 24-48 hours after the request is received.

To discontinue forwarding, please email the Service desk using either your Humnet email address or the address currently being forwarded to.
